2021 MOTOCONCEPTS HONDA SUPERCROSS TEAM ROSTER
The Motoconcepts Honda team went through some rider changes for the 2021 Supercross season. We all thought that Joey Savatgy was going to a part of the team when we saw him riding the Motoconcepts CRF450 number 17 at State Fair MX. Joey had Just 1 gear to match the bike and his number on the bike to go along with it. It looked like a done deal. We guessed wrong.
For the 2021 season, the four-rider Motoconsepts have returning riders Justin Hill and Vince Friese. New on the team for 2021 is Shane McElrath and Benny Bloss.
The four-man team will all be riding the all new 2021 CRF450 machine. We knew that Shane McElrath wanted to move up this year to the 450 class, but his results didn’t show fit to get picked up by a factory squad for 2021. So he picked the next best thing to a factory team. The bikes are competitive and can win races. Justin Hill has the talent to lead the 450 pack as we have seen in the past, but we haven’t seen that Hill for a while now. Hopefully, 2021 will be his year to get the Motoconcepts bike upfront.
Vince Friese is returning to the team to not only race but to utilize his testing and development abilities to turn the new model CRF450 into a race-winning package.
MCR Team Owner, Mike Genova said about Shane McElrath: “I look forward to working with Shane as I think MCR’s top level-management and bike development team are going to allow him to succeed in what can often be a challenging period as a rider transitions from one class to another.”
Tony Alessi, MCR’s Team Manager said about the addition to Bloss: “Benny’s display of speed and whoop strength in the final rounds of the 2020 season allowed us to see the raw talent he possesses. We feel the MCR program will allow him improved starts, which will help put him up front, and the speed he possesses will keep him up front.”
