BS6 Honda CB300R 2022: A lowdown
The two-wheeler manufacturer discontinued CB300R in the country when we switched to the stricter BS6 emission norms. However, the company is now ready to bring this baby back to the country, with a BS6-compliant engine and a handful of other updates.
Last month, at India Bike Week 2021, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India showcased a highly-anticipated upcoming bike in India: the BS6 iteration of the Honda CB300R. In case you forgot, the two-wheeler manufacturer discontinued CB300R in the country when we switched to the stricter BS6 emission norms. However, the company is now ready to bring this baby back to the country, with a BS6-compliant engine and whatnot. Yes, yes, we have spoken about the upcoming Honda bike already since it was showcased, but we are discussing it yet again because some new details have emerged about the new CB300R.
Okay, we will get straight to it, then: type approval documents for the new Honda CB300R BS6 have surfaced on the interwebs and offer some interesting information about the upcoming bike in India. It was previously assumed that the BS6 bike's engine's performance will be same as that of the BS4 bike's engine. Not according to the aforementioned type approval document though; it turns out the new CB300R's 286 cc single-cylinder engine will generate a maximum power output of 30.67 bhp at 9,000 rpm. This is a tad higher than the BS4 model's engine which generated 30 bhp at 8,000 rpm.
Besides the new bike's performance figures, the document also revealed that the 2022 Honda CB300R will also get a longer wheelbase: it has grown from 1,344 mm to 1,352 mm.
Scheduled to be launched in India this month, BS6 Honda CB300R will arrive in India via the CKD route. Oh and besides the updated engine, the upcoming bike in India will now also get a new golden finish on the fork tubes, Michelin tyres, and a slipper clutch. It will compete against bikes such as KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, etc.
